The Write Start: Guiding and Assessing Writing at A2 Key and B1 Preliminary

Talk Description

This presentation will start with different ways of motivating and helping students to write in English at A2/B1 level using a wide range of resources. Then, we will move on to offer practical ideas for developing students’ writing skills with a particular focus on how to approach the revised tasks in the A2 Key and B1 Preliminary exams. The presentation will finish with a more assessment-focused part in which we will see how writing assessment criteria can be applied in class to foster self-assessment

Victoria Peña Jaenes

Biopic

Victoria Peña has worked for Cambridge Assessment English since September 2018. Prior to that, she taught English to preschool, primary and secondary school students for ten years, as well as preparing adults for Cambridge examinations. Since joining Cambridge Assessment English, she has been involved in creating content for teachers and collaborating in different government bilingual projects. She holds a degree in Translation and Interpreting and an MA in Applied Linguistics and is a third-year PhD student. Victoria has a particular interest in the development and assessment of writing skills
