Being a volunteer means, friends, peer teamwork, experience, seeing things from another perspective, meeting new people, getting to work alongside well known authors, watching them in action, seeing how things are done in other areas of Spain and learning from this, going away with so much more than what you came with. Being appreciated for all you do, no matter how small this is or has been, it’s everything you could ever dream of if looking to teach English in a different way.
It has made me a different person, seeing just how hard people work behind the scenes, the amount of time spent on making congresses work; something you will never ever appreciate if you have never volunteered. It is and has been the best experience in the teaching world I have ever come across. It has made me a better teacher and taught me to understand what goes on in the background and what we are missing out on.
I can only say, never contemplate being a volunteer if the opportunity comes along, go for it!
